The Ross on Wye Community Garden is a project that fits in well with one of the Lions Clubs specialist areas, the environment. Ross Lions have two flower boxes around town that they keep an eye on and fill with bright colours during the summer months. So, when asked for some help by the Ross Community Garden the Lions were keen to do what they could.
The Community Garden is a three and a half acre site in the centre of Ross. The project works mainly with adults with learning disabilities, mental health illnesses, dementia and those who are long term unemployed. Ross Lions have supported the Garden by raising funds to provide the materials needed to construct raised flower beds. Lion David Ravenscroft represented Lions President Jenny Symington when he handed a cheque to cover the cost of these new beds to Project Leader Tim Shelley.
Ross on Wye Lions are keen to be involved with projects that help the community and can be contacted via their website, Facebook page or phone 0845 8335786.
