The need for a replacement bus has inspired the Ross Youth Lions to make a donation from funds they have raised this year. The Club also known as ‘Ross Leos’ is based in John Kyrle High School and is a great way for teenagers to learn about running projects, raising funds and helping those in need. The President of Ross Leos, Harry Davies, presented the cheque to Rosemary Rigby from Ross Action Committee and said how pleased the Club are that the money they raise can be used for local charities.
The Leos are mentored by two members of Ross Lions Club, Keith Wilding and Jenny Symington. Keith said “it is great to see that the young people of Ross care about the needs of those who are older and are prepared to put in hours of their own time to make good things happen. How they manage it we don’t know, but they contribute their time on top of their school work – and have loads of fun as well”. Their next fundraising event is a ‘Curry and Quiz Night’ on 8th April at Aston Ingham Hall, open to all – phone 0845 8335786 to book a place or team.
The Ross Leo Club was started 9 years ago and is still going from strength to strength. As members grow up and leave school, so new members are recruited from the younger years to keep the Club at around 25 members. Anyone who attends John Kyrle High School and is interested to get involved in voluntary community activities with the Leo Club can contact Harry or Secretary Adam Middlecote.
