It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

A long-standing Christmas Tradition continues once again this year as members of Ross on Wye Lions Club will be helping youngsters to meet up with Santa at Pengethley Garden Centre. They will be able to tell him how good they have been and to ask for their special present – hopefully the one that is going to be waiting for them to wake up on Christmas morning.. Members of the Club will be acting as ‘Santa’s little helpers’ at the Garden Centre at Peterstow, just outside Ross. On the weekends leading up to Christmas, Santa will be calling by to visit his home-from- home, a cosy grotto where he can talk to children, their parents and family. Often it is the parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles who enjoy this visit more than the children – although they don’t get a present!

The Grotto is open from 11am – 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays and entrance costs £5 per child. The Ross Lions Club are very grateful to the Chris, Ben and all the staff at the Garden Centre who make sure the Grotto is ready for Santa’s first visit and who enable the Lions to make money for their Charities.

In addition to visiting Santa, Ross Youth Lions (Leos) will be offering the opportunity to buy tickets in their Christmas Hamper Raffle. Thanks to donations, including the generosity of Spar and No. 3 Restaurant Ross on Wye, there will be useful and luxury items to win and again, all the money they raise will go to the Leos Charities. Like the Grotto, The raffle will be drawn just before Christmas so that the winner has the chance to celebrate their good luck in style!
