Like their adult counterparts, Ross Leo Club, have been very busy leading up to Christmas!
For the 4 weekends before Christmas they were running a raffle for donated hampers at a local Garden Centre. With some clever thinking and learning from last year, they visited the local supermarkets and as a result Sainsburys gave one of their luxury Christmas Cakes and they received £30 worth of vouchers from Morrisons. The raffle sold over 1000 tickets raising in excess of £500 for their Charity account.
After school one evening, the Leos paid a visit to a local care home where they sang Christmas Carols and songs, retold the nativity story and their younger members recited ‘The Night Before Christmas’. “After our renditions of classics, such as ‘Oh little Town of Bethlehem’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ the residents said that they enjoyed the entertainment so much they asked the Leos to come back again next year!” said President Elliott.
One of the most moving events of the season is the visit that the Leos paid to the Children’s Ward at Hereford Hospital. The Leos make up and take ‘goodie bags’ to give to the children who will be in hospital over the Christmas period. Said PRO Leo Grace: “Hopefully we spread some Christmas spirit and we all enjoyed talking to the young patients and handing out presents to the children”.
