Goodbye at charity race night

After 40 years of supporting Ross Lions with their Annual Race Night, bookie Terry bid a fond farewell at this year’s event. Terry has been bringing groups from London to the Cheltenham Races for all this time to stay at the chase Hotel. He has been generous in his support of Ross Lions charities since their Race Night first started. His fellow race-goers always join in the proceedings, even though this year there was the distraction of Chelsea playing football on the television!

It was good to see some new faces at this year’s event which was a great success one again, raising over £1,400. The room was filled with cheering crowds as the filmed races were shown. Many of the supporters went home happy with their winnings while even those who lost agreed that they had good fun. At the end of the evening Ross Lions President Sam Phillips thanked all those who had attended and made the evening go so well. The Chase Hotel had donated their room free of charge and many local companies sponsored races for which the Lions are very grateful. Without such generous donations the Ross Lions would not be able to do as much as they do to help their world-wide charities for eye health and youth as well as add what help they can to our local community. Anyone who would like to know more about Ross Lions can visit us at one of the many events we will be supporting through the summer.
